MEETING YOUR GOALS

What do you want to accomplish together?

I want to help you:

  • Tell a compelling story

  • Create a persuasive proposal

  • Develop strong messaging

  • Showcase your equity work

  • Grow your revenue

Let’s build a strategy that strengthens your strategic plan and long-term goals. I create grant strategies for large campaigns, craft national proposals, strengthen current proposals, and make your reports memorable.

It is my goal to make your proposal stand out for the reviewer. I love demonstrating impact and writing compelling community needs statements. I strive to create a sense of urgency while writing persuasively. I have worked for small, medium, and large nonprofits and have had my hand in grant writing and management in each. Through these experiences, I have submitted national multi-year proposals and in-kind requests for a few hundred dollars. I have brought teams together to strategize on the best approaches to win grants funds, mentored other employees as they worked on their first proposals, and worked with leadership to prepare them for funder site visits.

Local Focus, National Reach

I have been writing grants in the Seattle area since moving to the city in 2001. I can’t count how many times I applied to The Norcliffe Foundation and The Boeing Company. Through my full-time roles at local nonprofits, I have had the opportunity to get to know dozens of local funders. I know the key questions specific foundations ask in their site visits from memory. In the past two decades, I raised funds from companies and foundations throughout Washington State, nationally, and I currently work with one global program.

Teamwork and Collaboration

I love collaborating on the best strategy to win grants. I work closely with the organizational development staff, program staff, finance teams, and leadership to execute their vision.

Equity and Inclusion in Grant Proposals and Reports

I have mostly worked with or for organizations that support populations such as individuals who are or have been unhoused, incarcerated, currently or formerly in the child welfare system, living in trauma, and living in deep poverty. Every day I am relaying stories of inequity through grant proposals. In my writing, it is important to me that I have an equity and inclusion lens that is representative of your mission.

While writing proposals, I am to use a lens that:

  • Eliminates implicit bias and structural racism

  • Uses person-first and inclusive language to describe whom you serve

  • Does not perpetuate negative stereotypes
